According to the speaker, these problems have existed since an irrigation system was implemented during Estimé's presidency. Once the land became good and profitable, landowners, in particular Salim Attié, seized peasant lands, in collusion with the army (in this case, General Maurice Flambert), and this seizure of peasant land has intensified under Duvalier. He describes the repressive acts of several Macoutes, including Zacharie Delva, Charlotin Saint-Fort, and Alfred Sixto, and speaks about peasant resistance, especially in Bocozelle.
