  • Jean Marie Chérestal, the national authorizing officer for the Lomé Convention in Haiti, discusses the Lomé Convention, an aid and trade agreement between the European Union and African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) countries. Chérestal defines the European Development Fund and the Stabex, and describes various projects undertaken in Haiti under the convention's framework, including the road between Port-au-Prince and Hinche and roads throughout the Grand'Anse, as well as a variety of joint Haitian-Dominican projects along the border and the possibility of the two countries collaborating in the tourism sector. At the end of the interview, Chérestal addresses questions of neoliberalism and antineoliberalism. Interview by Jean Dominique.
