  • Engraving that reads "Azzo VIIII (IX), Marquis d'Este was by grant of Pope Gregory IX made first hereditary Marquis of Ferrara". However, it must refer to Azzo VII Novello, Marquis de Ferrara from 1215-1222 and 1240-1264 because he was the one who was contemporary of Pope Gregory IX (1227-1241 ). This engraving is attributed to Alessandro Capriolo on 1596. He was an Italian engraver born in Trento in 1557, an moved to Rome in 1580 to become a printer.
