| While the farmer reaps, the railroads prepare | 0:21 | |
| for the world's biggest single transportation job. | 0:23 | |
| Thousands upon thousands of cars must be assembled, | 0:26 | |
| ready at the right place at the right time. | 0:29 | |
| Skill and experience are needed | 0:33 | |
| to say nothing of the equipment required | 0:34 | |
| to move more than one billion bushels of grain a year. | 0:36 | |
| First to the great grain elevators, | 0:40 | |
| then onto the flour mill, | 0:43 | |
| and finally to your neighborhood baker and to you. | 0:45 | |
| Now this tremendous job of railroad transportation, | 0:49 | |

| The total railroad charge | 0:53 | |

| You see, America's railroads can and do haul | 1:31 | |
| an average of a million tons a mile | 1:34 | |
| every minute of the day and night. | 1:37 | |
| That's one big reason | 1:39 | |
| why Americans live better and produce more | 1:40 | |
| than any other country on earth | 1:43 | |
| because they have a backbone of steel rails | 1:45 | |
