On January 23, 1973, the US Ambassador to Haiti Clinton Knox and Consul General Ward Christensen were kidnapped by three young Haitians and held hostage at their residence in Port-au-Prince. For their safe return, the kidnappers negotiated the release of 12 political prisoners, a $70000 ransom, and safe passage to Mexico. The deal was negotiated by the French ambassador. During the kidnapping, the press was able to transmit the news without censorship for the first time since 1957. Features live recordings from the scene and interviews with some of the released prisoners.
Le 23 Janvier 1973, l'ambassadeur américain en Haïti Clinton Knox et le consul général Ward Christensen furent enlevés par trois jeunes haïtiens. En échange de leur retour sain et sauf, les ravisseurs négocièrent avec l'ambassadeur français la libération de douze prisonniers politiques, une rançon de soixante-dix mille dollars et un passage sûr vers le Mexique. Durant l'enlèvement, la presse fut en mesure de transmettre les nouvelles sans censure pour la première fois depuis 1957. Comprend des enregistrements en direct sur les lieux et des interviews de quelques-uns des prisonniers libérés.
