Nouvèl sou Radyo Ayiti: asasina biznismàn Antonio "Yaboule" Dupuy, deklarasyon anbasadè Fritz Cinéas ki demanti ke bwasewo ayisyen nan Dominikani kouri kite plantasyon sik yo, epi yon grèv koupè kann nan moulen sik La Esperanza nan Dominikani. Jounalis dominiken Domingo Saint-Hilaire rapòte lapolis nan Santyago ap kouri dèyè ayisyen ki pa gen paspò oubyen pèmi sejou. Radyo Ayiti fè yon repòtaj sou pwodiksyon nan depatman Sid, sitou konsènan santral sik Okay epi ki efè politik IDAI sou pwodiksyon sik nan rejyon an. Nan zòn Fonfrèd, yon ti minorite grandon ap fè gwo pwofi pandan ti plantè sik ap soufri. Konpè Filo ak Jacques Price fè yon repòtaj sou ayisyen k ap vwayaje lanmè pou chèche lavi lòt bò dlo (swadizan « boat-people » ) soti nan fawès peyi a. Gen moun ki fè wanga pou asire ke vwayaj la fèt an sekirite, oubyen pou yo jwenn travay lè yo rive.
News from Radio Haiti, including the murder of businessman Antonio “Yaboule” Dupuy, ambassador Fritz Cinéas’s statement denying that Haitian cane-cutters in the Dominican Republic have abandoned the fields, and a strike by cane-cutters at the Esperanza sugar mill in the Dominican Republic. Dominican journalist Domingo Saint-Hilaire reports that the police in Santiago are going after Haitians without passports or travel permits. Radio Haiti reports on sugar production in the Sud department, particularly concerning Cayes sugar factory and the effects of IDAI policy on sugar production in the region. In the area of Fonfrède, a small number of big landowners are profiting while small sugar planters continue to suffer. Konpè Filo and Jacques Price report on seafaring migrants (“boat people”) from far northwest Haiti who flee Haiti looking for a better life abroad. Poverty, political repression, lack of employment, and land problems in northwest Haiti have forced them to flee. Hunger forces people to eat “yanm dala” -- toxic and deadly bitter cassava. The journalists interview people about the voyage itself, in which the owners of “canter” boats make money off desperate people who take the perilous, often horrific voyage. Passengers describe the dangerous conditions in the Windward Passage between Haiti and Cuba. Some people do Vodou ceremonies to ensure the safety of the voyage, or to find employment once they arrive.
