- Date:

- Description:

Dany Laferrière pale sou zèv li (li konsidere chak grenn liv yon travay enkonplè; tout liv li yo fè pati yon sèl zèv tout antye), eksperyans li an egzil nan Monreyal, epi izolasyon Yves Montas (yon zanmi mityèl Jean Dominique ak Laferrière) te viv an egzil. Li dekri lanfans li, kay grann li Tigwav, li pale sou papa l, Windsor Kléber Laferrière pè (ansyen majistra Pòtoprens ki te gen yon politik anti-divalyeris), epi li eksplike koman liv li yo sove l.
Dany Laferrière discusses his oeuvre (in which he considers each of his books to be an incomplete work; they must be taken as a collective oeuvre), his experience of exile in Montreal, and the isolation of their mutual friend, Yves Montas, in exile. Laferrière cannot define himself clearly as a Haitian writer, a French writer, or a Quebecois writer. He describes his childhood with his grandmother in Petit-Goâve, the life and exile of his father Windsor Kléber Laferrière Sr. (former mayor of Port-au-Prince with an anti-Duvalierist stance), and the ways in which his books have saved him.
