Manuscript codex.
Title devised by cataloger.
Physical description: 11 lines per page in naskh script on glazed, laid Arabic paper. Interlinear Persian translation in small, red nastaʻlīq. Arabic text fully vocalized; catchwords. Gold verse markers. Leaf 3 blank, inserted to protect illuminations.
Decoration: Leaves 2b, 4a illuminated in gold, blue, orange and other colors. Each of the five lines of Arabic text is written on a gold-sprinkled background and bordered by black and gold. Five borders of varying widths surround the text on three sides and contain traditional Persian floral patterns and geometric shapes. Between the outer two borders is an undecorated margin containing the text of the same juzʼ, written on a diagonal, the Arabic text in the upper portion written in red naskh, and the Persian translation in the lower portion written in black nastaʻlīq. Remainder of manuscript is illuminated in gold, red and green. Text is illuminated in the same manner as the opening pages and is bordered by a gold foliar pattern on three sides. Surrounding this is a wide, gold-sprinkled margin continuing the juzʼ from the margin on the previous page, written on a diagonal, the Arabic in red naskh alternating with the Persian in black nastaʻlīq. A portion of the Arabic text is lacking in the margin on leaf 18b. The outer border contains a floral pattern. Illuminated rectangles of gold with blue floral pattern on either side mark the sūrahs.
A lavishly illuminated manuscript of Juzʼ 22 of the Qur'an with interlinear Persian translation.
Well-executed lacquered covers and doublures; covers feature six rows of flowering plants surrounded by a floral border, while doublures are decorated with a large bouquet surrounded by a floral border.
