Biographical Sketch of Creators: John Gill was Baptist minister serving at Horselydown, Southwark (London, England) beginning in 1719; his pastorate lasted for 51 years. Gill published many sermons, tracts, and other religious works, some of which continued to be printed well into the 19th century. His influence spread to the United States where a number of his works were reprinted. Gill was baptised in 1716, ordained in 1718, and died on Oct. 14, 1771.
