| Of course, on top of that you add the particular challenges | 0:28 | |
| of having survived gross abuses and torture. | 0:31 | |
| That makes it even more challenging. | 0:36 | |
| On top of that, you add the stigma of having been | 0:38 | |
| in Guantanamo and the particular specificities | 0:40 | |
| of that psychological regime. | 0:43 | |
| So it's a huge hurdle, | 0:46 | |
| and you can't also assume that even if you're released | 0:50 | |
| to a country where there is a Muslim population | 0:52 | |
| that they would necessarily be welcoming either, | 0:56 | |
| because the stigma is such that | 0:59 | |
| people still think that, | 1:02 | |
| well there's no smoke without fire, | 1:04 | |
| anyone who ended up there must have been a terrorist. | 1:06 | |
| And in some of those countries, | 1:10 | |
| particularly in Eastern Europe | 1:13 | |
| if they had a Muslim population, it would be quite small. | 1:14 | |
| And they wouldn't want to stick their head understandably | 1:17 | |
| above the parapet and say, | 1:19 | |
| okay, we'll help this guy. | 1:20 | |
| For fear of what reprisals | 1:23 | |
| that might bring from their own government. | 1:25 |
