| - | In the absence of accountability. | 0:02 |
| There has been no accountability. | 0:05 | |
| This history will likely be repeated as frequently | 0:09 | |
| as we are challenged by events like September 11th. | 0:12 | |
| It's important for us to understand what happened to speak | 0:19 | |
| the truth of what happened and not conceal it. | 0:22 | |
| This country, our identity is about the respect for the rule | 0:26 | |
| of law. | 0:30 | |
| It's not about people. | 0:31 | |
| It's about the law, our constitution, that's | 0:32 | |
| what's enduring about this country and what's different | 0:35 | |
| about it, | 0:38 | |
| and systematic torture and the continued concealment | 0:39 | |
| and of it, and the lack of accountability for it. | 0:46 | |
| It's a shame, the extent to | 0:51 | |
| which a government respects the rule of law as its source | 0:54 | |
| of legitimacy. | 0:56 | |
| And so we don't have the same sense of legitimacy | 0:58 | |
| as a government when you're systematically torturing you | 1:01 | |
| hold no one accountable and people need to be prosecuted. | 1:04 | |
| The health professionals included, they were central | 1:07 | |
| to committing and concealing torture. | 1:12 | |
| There have been six cases brought up | 1:15 | |
| to licensing boards for health professionals, all | 1:18 | |
| of which have failed usually on the basis of not. | 1:21 | |
| They would say | 1:25 | |
| that they don't have the jurisdiction and that's sad. | 1:26 | |
| The medical profession, this is the biggest scandal | 1:30 | |
| in medical ethics in the United States history and | 1:34 | |
| Health professionals have not been held to account. | 1:39 | |
| I think in order to restore trust and health professionals | 1:42 | |
| we need to have that kind | 1:46 | |
| of investigation and accountability. | 1:47 |
