| - | They are damaged with post-traumatic stress disorder, | 0:03 |
| with depression. | 0:09 | |
| They've had social isolation. | 0:11 | |
| They don't know how to integrate with people. | 0:12 | |
| They've lost their ability to work, | 0:17 | |
| just to even function. | 0:20 | |
| So in my experience, I would say | 0:23 | |
| that people released from Guantanamo need | 0:28 | |
| a rehabilitation program, | 0:31 | |
| a comprehensive rehabilitation program. | 0:34 | |
| And that would include not only mental health treatment | 0:37 | |
| and counseling, it would include family counseling | 0:44 | |
| so family members can learn to work together. | 0:47 | |
| It would include job training and reintegration | 0:50 | |
| into society and whatever else is necessary | 0:54 | |
| to a specific situation. | 0:58 | |
| And I did see something like that | 1:00 | |
| in Saudi Arabia of all places. | 1:02 | |
| Their terrorist rehabilitation program; | 1:06 | |
| they've had 123 people from Guantanamo go | 1:09 | |
| through it already, and it's a holistic approach | 1:12 | |
| where they take these men and put them | 1:17 | |
| in this resort like area. | 1:20 | |
| I mean it's confined, | 1:22 | |
| but it's a beautiful resort like area. | 1:24 | |
| And they provide religious counseling, | 1:26 | |
| religious education, mental health, | 1:29 | |
| medical care, job training. | 1:32 | |
| They're allowed to take university courses, | 1:36 | |
| and they do family counseling. | 1:38 | |
| They have families come in and then help them in. | 1:40 | |
| So that kind of holistic approach I think is | 1:43 | |
| what is necessary to help these men recover. | 1:45 |
