| I think one of the great things about America is that | 4:37 | |

| - | Well, it strikes me that a Duke college | 4:54 |

| I think, first of all, it's to teach | 5:00 | |
| Duke students how to think. | 5:02 | |
| Like, if I can work with a student to have them, sort of, | 5:06 | |
| develop a way of thinking, learning how to approach inquiry. | 5:09 | |
| I think that's the talent and the skill that goes on | 5:14 | |
| and you keep that for the whole rest of your life. | 5:17 | |
| Man | We have some very intellectual people here | 5:22 |
| and I feel that the vision for Duke is very much alive. | 5:23 | |
| What I love most about it, | 5:28 | |
| is people have genuine desire to get to know each other. | 5:29 | |
| People of opposing viewpoints coming together | 5:33 | |
| in a truly intellectual spirit. | 5:36 | |

| Man | You can work hard and play hard at the same time. | 6:10 |
| There's enough of a balance here where you can | 6:12 | |
| have an active social life and still take part in activities | 6:15 | |
| and just really, you know, do what you wanna do | 6:19 | |
| and branch out and explore. | 6:22 | |
| Woman | I've had the best professors, | 6:23 |
| like, it's really been a treat. | 6:25 | |
| I've had so much opportunity to work with | 6:26 | |
| just really bright people | 6:28 | |
| and my classes are genuinely interesting. | 6:30 | |
| I really think that the academics here are wonderful | 6:34 | |
| and if you work hard enough, you can find, | 6:36 | |
| like, a good time no matter where you go. | 6:39 | |

| - | The reason for teaching in general is to, sort of, | 7:00 |
| challenge people to think about issues, | 7:04 | |
| to think about inquiry, to think about how to learn. | 7:08 | |
| So I think it's at this unique point | 7:12 | |
| that I find it most interesting | 7:14 | |
| and most challenging to help people | 7:16 | |
| in their thinking process because they're not only | 7:19 | |
| growing in intellectual content, | 7:23 | |
| but they're also making decisions | 7:24 | |
| that are going to impact them the rest of their lives. | 7:26 | |
| And, so to raise questions with them about that | 7:28 | |
| and, to me, it's the most interesting aspect of teaching. | 7:33 | |

| still, the same contextual role of, how shall we say is, | 10:35 | |

| if I lived in an apartment at grad school, | 23:38 | |

| Or what we're doing, but we enjoy it. | 25:12 | |
