The 40th anniversary of the District Six Plaque of Conscience - Address by Prof Storey outside the District Six Museum, formerly Buitenkant Street Methodist Church, Cape Town, November, 2011. 40 years previously, members of the congregation had erected a "Plaque of Conscience", also known as the "Plaque of Shame", to memorialize the 60 000 people forcibly removed from District Six, Cape Town, because of the color of their skins. On this anniversary, it was possible to celebrate the return of the first families.
