Jean Dominique ak Jonathan Demme pale sou istwa sinema ayisyen, ak kèk fim etranje ki fèt sou Ayiti oubyen an Ayiti.
Jean Dominique and Jonathan Demme discuss the history of Haitian cinema, and also films made by foreigners in and about Haiti. They cover footage of Haiti taken during the US occupation, the lack of film archives, early films about Haiti, negative depictions of Haiti (for example, the "zombie" stereotype), Jean Dominique's on Ciné Club, film as resistance during the Duvalier years, the documentary about the Black beauty contest "Mais, je suis belle", and film adaptations of Graham Greene's The Comedians and Jacques Roumain's Gouverneurs de la Rosée. As Demme observes, it turns out that Dominique was involved in nearly all films made in Haiti, in some way or another. Dominique asks Demme about his goals in undertaking a project on the history of Haitian cinema. These sessions were filmed at Ramapo College in New Jersey.
La séance a lieu à Ramapo College, New Jersey.
