(00:00:00) Le 28 juillet 2001, des hommes armés en habits militaires, ont attaqué le commissariat de Pétionville, l’Académie de police de Port-au-Prince, et le commissariat de Mirebalais. Quatre personnes ont été tuées et plusieurs autres blessées. Le secrétaire d’État aux Communications, Mario Dupuy, dénonce ces attaques visant à déstabiliser le pays. Le ministre des Communications, Mario Guy Paul, parle aussi. Des membres d’OP Lavalas sont sortis dans les rues, pour protester contre cette tentative de coup d’État des anciens militaires, 2001-07-29 (00:05:38) La confusion continue concernant ce qui s’était passé le 28 juillet. On ne sait toujours pas combien de personnes ont été blessées, ni quelles armes ont été utilisées. La directrice départementale de la police, Hermione Léonard, et le ministre de l’Intérieur, Claude Ménard, parlent, 2001-07-29 (00:09:55) La PNH annonce que treize personnes ont été blessées durant les événements du 28 juillet, et les attaquants étaient d’anciens membres du Corps des Léopards qui voulaient reprendre les casernes, 2001-07-30 (00:12:54) L’ancien directeur de l’Académie de police, Jean Lionel Trécil, est en prison dans le cadre de l’enquête sur les événements du 28 juillet, tout comme plusieurs autres policiers. (00:00:00) On 28 July 2001, armed men dressed in military uniforms attacked the police headquarters in Pétionville, the police academy in Port-au-Prince, and the police headquarters in Mirebalais. Four people were killed and several others injured. Secretary of State for Communications Mario Dupuy denounces this as an attempt to destabilize the country. Minister of Communication Guy Paul also speaks. Members of Lavalas-aligned OPs took to the streets to protest this attempted coup d'état by former soldiers, 2001-07-29 (00:05:38) There remains great confusion over the events of 28 July, including how many people were injured and what kinds of weapons were used. Departmental police director Hermione Léonard and Minister of the Interior Henry Claude Ménard speak, 2001-07-29 (00:09:55) The PNH announces that thirteen people were injured in the events of 28 July, and that the perpetrators were former members of the Léopards corps who wanted to retake the barracks, 2001-07-30 (00:12:54) The former director of the police academy, Jean Lionel Trécil, and several other members of the police are in prison as part of the investigation into the events of 28 July. Commissioner Elder Kersy says he does not know why he is in prison, 2001-08-02 (00:14:41) The government's investigation of the events of 28 July has determined that it was an attempted coup d'état against Lavalas and that there was complicity within the police, 2001-08-10
