Report looking back on the 1969 Cazale massacre. In March 1969, the peasants of Cazale rose up against Duvalierist oppression and raised the red and blue flag of pre-Duvalier Haiti. The military and Tontons Macoutes based in Cazale, such as Charlemagne Bien-Aimé, arrested and killed many peasants, pillaged and burned peasant homes, systematically raped women and girls. Also killed were the anti-Duvalier combatants Jérémy Eliazer, Alix Lamaute and Lamarre St. Germain. Report features the voices of Monique Brisson, widow of Alix Lamaute; Marie-Lourdes Eliazer, sister of Jérémy Eliazer; and Théophile Benoît, brother of Antioche Benoît. Report in Creole, then in French. The entire report from 1987 can be found at RL10059RR1630 and RL10059RR1639.
