Father Jean-Bertrand Aristide comments on the large demonstrations calling for judgment of the Macoutes and criminals who were responsible for repression of peasants, for the Saint Jean Bosco massacre, and the electoral violence of 29 November 1987. According to Aristide, Haitian society needs a "good dose of anti-Macoute medication." There cannot be reconciliation without justice, and Aristide hopes that the authorities will provide proper justice so that the population does not resort to vigilantism (Pè Lebrun).

D’après Aristide, la société haïtienne a besoin d’une bonne dose de sérum anti-macoute. Pas de réconciliation sans justice, et Aristide souhaite que les autorités répondent aux revendications de justice de la population pour qu’elle ne soit pas forcée de se faire justice elle-même.
