Jacques Price entèvyouve agwonòm Yves André Wainright, yon responsab CARITAS, sou pwogram òganizasyon te lanse yon lane anvan an pou ranplase kochon kreyòl la avèk kochon djòl long jamayiken.
Jacques Price interviews agronomist Yves André Wainright of CARITAS about the organization's plan to replace the Creole pig with Jamaican pigs, six years after the USAID-sponsored PEPPADEP program eliminated the Creole pig from Haiti. After a series of setbacks -- the US technicians "messed with us" by not giving the results of swine flu tests on time, amid Haiti's electoral violence of 1987, and when the results came back, two of the pigs 235 were positive for swine flu -- CARITAS has lost the money for the replacement plan and nearly lost hope for replacing the Creole pig. However, despite this discouragement, CARITAS will continue to support peasant farmers as they mobilize to demand the repopulation of the Creole pig.
