They describe how imported rice and other phenomena, such as the slaughter of the Creole pig, have caused their families (most of whom work the land) to have economic problems; the children cannot attend school. They support the rice farmers of L'Estère that are resisting the contraband rice (00:06:24) Songs of peasant farmers from Papaye, near Hinche, addressing political and social problems. They describe emerging from Duvalierism and Macoutism only to fall under a repressive military regime.
