Vicaisse Bellefleur, president of the rice planters' union of the Artibonite, discusses his reaction to the March 29, 1987 constitutional referendum and peasant participation in the vote, peasants rights organizations' objective of national production, and the need for Haiti to be self-sufficient and responsible for its own needs. He says the Haitian people are politically engaged and are not going to resign themselves to misery and injustice any longer.

Vicaisse Bellefleur, le président du syndicat des planteurs de riz de l'Artibonite, raconte sa réaction au référendum constitutionnel du 29 mars 1987 et à la participation paysanne dans ce dernier. Il aborde aussi l'objectif des organisations pour les droits des paysans (la production nationale) et la nécéssité pour Haïti d'être indépendant et autosuffisant. Il déclare que les Haïtiens sont engagés en politique et ne veulent plus se résoudre à la misère et à l'injustice.
