  • Emmanuel Constant, bishop of Gonaïves, calls for peace and unity amid the conflict between Gonaïves and L'Estère/Desdunes over the importation of "diri Miyami" (US rice). He calls for the aggressors from Gonaïves to lay down their arms, and the peasant farmers from L'Estère and Desdunes to be more patient.
