L’Heure Haïtienne broadcast from October 22, 1981. The host begins with a correction: in a previous broadcast, they did not mean to describe Jean Dominique’s remarks as “disgusting” when he appeared on a October 13, 1981 episode of the MacNeil-Lehrer Report about the Haitian refugee crisis. Rather, they found the comments by US State Department representative Kevin McIntyre to be disgusting. They did, however, feel that Dominique could have mounted a stronger offensive against McIntyre’s lies. The host then interviews Otto Louis-Jacques, the chairman of an organization that is working for Haitian people’s right to return to Haiti. The Duvalier government has made it difficult for Haitians living abroad to return to Haiti to help their countrymen. Louis-Jacques discusses the campaign to allow Haitians to return to Haiti, and addresses whether this “operasyon retou” is part of the struggle to overthrow the Duvalier regime. Grégoire Eugène was supposed to speak but was unable to, so Louis-Jacques appeared in his stead.
