L’Heure Haïtienne interviews a former political prisoner, Herns J. Renoit (referred to here as Ernst or Herns Jean), who participated in the “Coalition Haïtienne” invasion, which left Freeport in the Bahamas and landed in Cap-Haïtien in May 1968. He was severely wounded, and his comrades were killed. The Duvalier regime’s doctors, Dr. Guillaume and Dr. Verly, amputated his arm, as punishment. He spent eight and a half years in Duvalier’s prisons, but escaped and made it to New York. He is seeking financial support so he can get a prosthetic arm.
