  • Le discours enflammé de Jean Dominique à l'occasion du cinquième anniversaire du référendum constitutionnel du 29 mars 1987, qu'il décrit comme une étape décisive dans la participation démocratique du peuple haïtien, particulièrement dans le cas des pauvres et des paysans. La constitution permis au mouvement Lavalas de prendre son envol, culminant avec l'élection d'Aristide et sa promesse de « twa wòch dife yo » : justice, participation et transparence. Elle donna aussi les moyens au peuple de résister aux efforts du CNG vers la fin des années 80 pour l'affaiblir. La raison du coup d'État du 30 septembre 1991 est précisément la participation encouragée par Lavalas, surtout celle qui aurait permis aux paysans habitant les provinces d'exiger une fin au règne des chefs de section et à leur répression : ces derniers se sentirent si menacés qu'ils lancèrent le coup d'État. Ce n'est donc pas seulement un coup d'État contre le président, mais aussi contre le peuple tout entier et la constitution pour laquelle ils ont voté. Jean Dominique répond aux questions de l'audience, y compris certaines concernant la réforme agraire et les droits territoriaux.
