(00:00:00)Kontinyasyon entèvyou Joseph Marcelin. Li pale sou dosye Minis Enteryè te fè soti (pandan gouvènman Malval) sou masak Basen Kayiman, ki di lame te gen rezon, ke masak la te jistifye. Poko gen vrè ankèt sou masak la; Komisyon Verite ak Jistis poko vizite zòn nan. Lavi difisil nan zòn nan, sitou paske tout lekòl te boule pandan evènman an.
(00:00:00)Continuation of interview with Joseph Marcelin. He describes the Ministry of the Interior’s report (written during the Malval administration) that says the army was justified in the Bassin Caïman massacre. There has not yet been a true investigation of the massacre and the Truth and Justice Commission has not visited Bassin Caïman. Conditions remain difficult, as the schools were burned down in the massacre. He describes Cédras, François, and Biamby as people who “only think of their own pocketbooks, they don’t think of the country” and cautions his fellow Haitian citizens to be very watchful in the coming elections, because the same attachés and criminals can return to power. (00:16:19)Young woman describes the Bassin Caïman massacre, how she hid and survived. (00:18:56) Etienne Lamour, brother of Marc Lamour, describes the Bassin Caïman massacre and the role of Ernest Bennett’s brother Pitchoune, a major coffee speculator in the area. He says that if soldiers died, they were killed by their own army, because it is impossible for the local resistance to take on the army who possess heavy weaponry and assault rifles. The powerful people who have oppressed them are able to seek safety in Port-au-Prince, while the peasants remain behind, their home and schools burned. (00:29:35)A woman from Port-Margot describes how her home was burned, she was arrested and imprisoned for 24 days while she was still breastfeeding. She was beaten in prison, and lost her livelihood.
