Testimony of former captain Castera Cénafils, the first of the accused to take the stand. The public prosecution office (Ministère Public) requests that the other defendants be removed from the courtroom so that they do not corroborate one another's stories. Cénafils claims that "rebels" and "terrorists" led by Amiot Métayer attacked the military post at Raboteau, contrary to the testimony of Colin Granderson. He claims to have a cassette that proves this, and that proves that there were several instances of resistance to the army planned around the country (including that at Bassin Caïman). He disputes the testimony of the various expert witnesses. Cénafils declares the only reason there were no military killed in Raboteau on April 22, 1994 is that they are so well-trained, skilled and experienced. The Ministère Public asks about the actions of the high command (Cénafils, Timo, and Groshommes) and asks which is more important: military rules and hierarchies or the Constitution? Do military rules permit the army to kill and torture people? Did the army fulfill its obligation to protect people in Raboteau that day? Cénafils refuses to answer these questions, claiming that they are matters of opinion.
