  • Michel Zachée of Initiative des Coopératives (INICOOP) discusses the banking cooperative crisis in Haiti. Cooperatives were supposed to represent an alternative to traditional banking for Haiti's poor, but many of them were effectively Ponzi schemes, and when they collapsed, they left their clients in even deeper despair and penury. Zachée discusses efforts to recover from the crisis. Hosted by Sony Estéus.

Les coopératives sont supposées représenter une alternative pour les pauvres qui n’ont pas accès aux banques traditionnelles. Mais en réalité plusieurs d’entre elles fonctionnent sur le schéma pyramidal Ponzi, et lorsqu’elles se sont effondrées, les clients se sont retrouvés encore plus démunis.
