  • In her second visit to Entre Nous to discuss her book LUTTE DES FEMMES ET LUTTES SOCIALES EN HAITI with J.J. Dominique, Myrtha Gilbert discusses violence against women in Haiti and the origins of violence in Haiti society, going back to the moment of European colonization. Gilbert and Dominique address the seeming contradiction that women are the backbone of Haitian society and economy, yet are victims of violence. Violence against women, and violence against children too, has become normalized in Haitian society.

Dominique, Myrtha Gilbert aborde la question de la violence contre les femmes en Haïti, de l’origine de cette violence dans la société haïtienne, en remontant jusqu’au début de la colonisation de Quisqueya. Gilbert et Dominique discutent de la contradiction apparente : les femmes sont les piliers de la société et de l’économie haitienne, tout en étant celles qui sont victimes de violences. Les violences contre les femmes, contre les enfants, sont banalisées dans la société haïtienne.
