  • Bayyinah Bello discusses her book MWEN RELE KANIS OGIS and her oral histories with Haitian centenarians. Kanis Ogis was 122 years old. She describes, in charming detail, tracing Kanis Ogis's origins in the mountains between Bainet and Petit-Goâve (a place called Kalabè). Bello explains the limits of written history, and what oral history can do that written history cannot. She has also created a foundation to help elderly Haitians, in partnership with FONKOZE.
