Byento, Pòtoprens pral komemore 250yèm anivèsè kreyasyon vil la. Achitèk Leslie Voltaire pale sou istwa espas vil la, epi li imajine kisa Pòtoprens kapab ye nan lavni: yon vil byen planifye ki ap ankouraje endistri ak touris, yon vil kote bidonvil yo tounen betonvil ki gen tout enfrastrikti yo bezwen, yon vil kote leta pran responsabilite l (sitou pou moun k ap viv nan zòn ki pi vilnerab nan vil la, tankou Site Solèy).
Port-au-Prince will soon be celebrating the 250th anniversary of its founding. Architect Leslie Voltaire discusses the history of the city's spaces, and imagines what a Port-au-Prince of the future might look like: a well-planned city that promotes both industry and tourism, a city in which the bidonvilles have been converted to "bétonvilles" with infrastructure, and where the state takes responsibility (particularly for people in the most vulnerable parts of the city, like Cité Soleil). Rehabilitating Port-au-Prince is not only a matter of urban planning, it is a political decision.
