Pwofesè Maximilien Laroche pale sou istwa literati ayisyen, ak koman nou dwe defini ak klasifye literati ayisyen pa rapò ak kesyon lang, dyaspora, ak peryòd tan. Li dekri yon melanj kiltirèl ki enfliyanse literati ayisyen ansanm avèk mizik ak penti ayisyen, sou mouvman endijenis ak spiralis yo, ekriven tankou Jacques Roumain ki soti nan vil ki ekri sou vi peyizan yo, ak sou koman ekriven ki soti lòt peyi nan Karayib yo, tankou Aimé Césaire ak Derek Walcott, jwenn enspirasyon nan istwa Ayiti a. Laroche pale tou sou senbolis bizango.
Professor Maximilien Laroche discusses the history of Haitian literature, and how Haitian literature might be defined and classified in terms of language, diaspora, and time period. He describes the mixture of influences on Haitian literature as well as music and painting, the indigenist and spiralist movements, urban writers like Jacques Roumain who wrote about the lives of peasant farmers, and how writers from elsewhere in the Caribbean such as Aimé Césaire and Derek Walcott have been inspired by Haiti. Laroche also discusses the symbolism of Bizango.
