David Lee, OAS special representative to Haiti, discusses OAS resolution 822, which was issued amid the worsening political crisis. It followed resolution 806, which was issued after the December 17, 2001 attack on the National Palace and the violence that followed. He discusses what kind of "collaboration" the OAS and the larger international community intends to provide the government of Haiti to address the political crisis. He discusses in particular disarmament, the police, violence against journalists and threats to freedom of the press, justice and judicial reform, and elections.
L'ambassadeur David Lee, représentant spécial de l’OEA en Haïti, parle de la résolution 822, publiée lors de la crise politique grandissante. Elle succède à la résolution 806, qui fut publiée après l'attaque contre le Palais National le 17 décembre 2001 et la violence qui s'ensuivit. Il explique quel genre de « collaboration » l'OAS et la communauté internationale veulent apporter au gouvernement d'Haïti pour résoudre la crise politique. Il se penche en particulier sur le désarmement, la police, la violence contre les journalistes, les menaces contre la liberté de la presse, la justice, la réforme judiciaire et les élections.
