  • Lovinsky Pierre-Antoine describes the Fondation 30 Septembre's campaign to put an end to the Haitian army for good, and to raise awareness among the population about the army's atrocities. Though Jean-Bertrand Aristide eliminated the army in 1995, Fondation 30 Septembre is having people sign petitions to encourage the future legislature to write the elimination of the army into the Constitution, so the army can be eliminated for good. Pierre-Antoine discusses the ongoing battle against impunity, and the need for justice for victims of the 1991 coup d'état (including women who were victims of sexual violence), victims of political assassinations (such as Jean Dominique and Jean-Marie Vincent), and the victims of the Pharval poisoning. According to Pierre-Antoine, trial of the police officers accused in the Carrefour-Feuilles massacre was an important step, even though the outcome was not favorable. He describes plans to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the 1991 coup d'état. For Pierre-Antoine, Jean Dominique is always present in all the Fondation 30 Septembre's struggles for justice. Demanding justice for Jean Dominique is sacred, and the Fondation 30 Septembre demands that the Dominique case move forward -- it is an obligation for the government and the justice system, and they cannot do otherwise.
