Sterlin Saint-Cyr of the Association Nationale des Pêcheurs, who hails from the fishing village of Lully, discusses grassroots organizing for the rights of fishermen -- a sector that has long been neglected in Haiti. He describes collaborations between fishermen and peasant farmers (both of whom are similarly exploited by speculators), the problem of foreign ships who fish in Haiti's waters, pollution and degradation of Haiti's coasts, cooperation with Cuba, and how the notion of "agrarian reform" might also apply to conserving Haiti's ocean resources.
