The CNG is in many ways a continuation of Macoutism, which is part of the reason they have not yet dismantled Fort Dimanche. The democratic movement has its own internal divisions and problems. Jean Dominique joins the conversation to discuss the importance of grassroots mobilization to the democratic movement. They continue to address the question of what to do with Fort Dimanche, which is in fact still in use: Duval describes the horrors of the conditions inside: "Fort Dimanche is an insult to the Haitian people." Aristide emphasizes the importance of bringing soldiers into the movement. The guests say Fort Dimanche should become a monument and a memorial.
