  • Évelyne Pérard, the director of the national school cafeteria program, discusses the Préval government's program to provide schoolchildren with balanced meals. For schools that lack the infrastructure to serve hot meals, they provide sandwiches and fresh juice. Pérard discusses the funding of the program, and complications between the Ministries of Education and Finance, as well as financial support from Taiwan and food aid agencies. She also discusses school gardens, where they grow vegetables that are used in the cafeterias.
