Twa responsab sendika travayè TELECO a -- Jean Mabou, Rodrigue Thermilus, ak Pierre Harold Daméus -- pale avèk Jean Dominique sou pwoblèm ki egziste nan jesyon TELECO a epi sou kèlke pa ki pozitif, tankou pwojè telefoni riral la ak kolaborasyon avèk lapolis pou kwape pwoblèm pirataj ak moun k ap koupe liy telefonik. Yo pale tou sou privatizasyon TELECO a epi sou ki efè telefòn selilè ka genyen sou sistèm telefòn ki kable a. Ti pwogrè TELECO resi reyalize a menase jounen jodiya akòz koripsyon.
Three leaders of the TELECO workers' union -- Jean Mabou, Rodrigue Thermilus, and Pierre Harold Daméus -- speak with Jean Dominique about problems with management of TELECO as well as positive steps, such as increasing telephone coverage in rural Haiti and collaboration with police to stop pirating and the cutting of phone lines. They also discuss the privatization of TELECO and the possible effects of mobile phones on landline systems. The progress that TELECO has made is threatened by corruption. TELECO's administration has signed contracts with other companies (such as Franck Ciné's Haitel), to the consternation of the union. Does the administration of TELECO have the right to unilaterally sign contracts without the consent of other stakeholders or the state? What are the true reasons for these contracts? They describe an extensive web of nepotism (involving Haitel, CONATEL, and TELECO) hidden behind these contracts, including the son-in-law of Gladys Lauture, a close adviser to Jean-Bertrand Aristide.
