  • Jean Dominique interviews educator Roody Edmé about Haiti's ongoing political crisis, in which democrats are fighting democrats and politicians are blinded by what Edmé terms a "gladiator mentality." They discuss the contentious relationships between political parties (Fanmi Lavalas, OPL, KONAKOM, etc.), between the legislative branch and the executive, and between political leaders and the Haitian people. The conflicts between political leaders are absolute and personal, and often involve a demonization of the adversary. As for the people, the perpetual climate of fear encourages social divisions and paralyzes society, making progress nearly impossible.
