They discuss the balkanization of the Lavalas movement and address the uncomfortable question: were we not ready to take power after December 16, 1990? They discuss the disconnect between the political base and politicians, the lack of instruments to ensure rule of law in Haiti, divisions between political parties and the lack of collective vision, and the general polarization of Haitian society. How much of this crisis stems from a demonization of Jean-Bertrand Aristide -- a demonization that took root during the coup years? Guiteau and Dominique also discuss the question of Haiti's autonomy in the face of US imperialism, and the disillusionment of Haiti's youth.
