Jean Dominique rencontre trois membres d’organisations de la société civile communautaire, Charles Emmanuel de l’OMD à Ouanaminthe, Jean Eddy Gaston de la Société Saint-Jean Baptiste à Jean Rabel, Jean Berger Sanon de l’OD Cap Rouge, accompagnant Charles Mathelier, consultant du programme ASOSYE. Ils ont participé à une conférence réunissant de nombreux groupes et organisations de la société civile. Le programme ASOSYE est une initiative de l’État haïtien et de l’État américain pour renforcer la société civile haïtienne. ASOSYE a organisé ce colloque consacré à la croissance économique et la réduction de la pauvreté. Emmanuel, Gaston et Sanon décrivent les problèmes d’infrastructures qui empêchent le développement de leurs régions. Ils parlent aussi de l’incompétence et de la corruption au niveau des élus locaux.
Jean Dominique interviews three members of local civil society organizations --Charles Emmanuel of OMD Ouanaminthe, Jean Eddy Gaston of the Société Saint Jean Baptiste of Jean-Rabel, and Jean Berger Sanon of OD Cap Rouge -- and Charles Mathelier who is a consultant with the ASOSYE program. They participated in a conference of different grassroots and civil society organizations, organized by the US-Haiti ASOSYE program, which seeks to strengthen Haitian civil society. The conference focused the themes of economic growth and poverty reduction. Emmanuel, Gaston, and Sanon describe the particular infrastructural problems that stand in the way of economic development in their respective communities. They also describe incompetence and corruption on the part of local elected officials.
