  • Jean William Jeanty of KORENIP speaks with Jean Dominique about the effects of Hurricane Georges on the Nippes region, which he descibes as having exacerbated existing infrastructural problems in Miragoâne and elsewhere in the area. The ongoing political crisis between OPL and Fanmi Lavalas has worsened this situation, and people of Nippes have little faith in elected officials, neither on the local level nor the national level. Jeanty critiques the way Lavalas leadership has governed, and how the Haitian government depends on foreign aid.
