Jean Dominique interviews Jean Daniel Élie, Director General of the Ministry of Commerce about Haiti's trade relations with neighboring countries, after Haiti joins CARICOM on a provisional basis. They discuss in particular commercial relations between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, the effects of free trade on the Haitian economy, and tourism. Haiti's new status in CARICOM means that CARICOM is evaluating Haiti, and determining the terms of its trade relations with other countries in the Caribbean. Élie and Dominique discuss in detail what CARICOM membership will mean for Haiti.
