Among other topics, they discuss preparations for the Raboteau trial, the importance of devoir de mémoire and the difficulty of achieving truth and justice when documents and archives regularly disappear, and the problems of the Haitian justice system. Joinet also emphasizes that the problem of impunity is not solely the province of countries in the Global South -- it is also an issue in so-called "civilized" and democratic countries. They also discuss the apparent contradictions in the United Nations' attitudes toward human rights -- for example, their lack of opposition to the United States' seizure of FRAPH documents from the coup years.
