Jean Dominique rencontre le ministre de l’Éducation, Jacques Édouard Alexis. Ils discutent de l’expérience d’Alexis au Deuxième sommet des Amériques à Santiago du Chili. Ils parlent du conflit entre le ministère et les associations d’enseignants, de la construction ou de la réparation des écoles et des lycées, et de la question de la privatisation du système éducatif haïtien. Il est aussi question du Plan national d’éducation et de formation, et de la nécessité de décentraliser le système universitaire haïtien. Le ministère propose la création d’une deuxième université d’État qui s’occuperait de la formation technique. Dominique et Alexis parlent aussi de la gestion régionale des écoles et du bac allégé.
Jean Dominique interviews Minister of Education Jacques Édouard Alexis. They discuss Alexis's experience at the Second Summit of the Americas in Santiago, Chile; conflict between the Ministry of Education and teachers' unions; construction and renovation of elementary and high schools; and the question of privatizing Haiti's education system. They also discuss the Plan National d’Éducation et de Formation and the need to decentralize Haiti's higher education system. The Ministry is proposing the creation of a secondary state university system, which focuses on technical training. Dominique and Alexis also discuss regional management of schools, and the "bacc allégé" (the lightened, streamlined national examination).
