Is Paul willing to sit and speak with all factions, asks Dominique, including Duvalierists, neo-Duvalierists and the perpetrators of the violence of the coup years, such as Toto Constant? Paul does not answer this question directly, instead saying that the problems of the justice system are greater than one individual man. They touch on Claude Raymond, the assassinations of Antoine Izméry and Guy Malary, and the United States's refusal to extradite Constant, as well as widspread corruption in the justice system. Dominique asks Paul why he, as an activist and a victim of both the Duvalier regime and the military government of Prosper Avril, has decided to grant Avril absolution, and suggests that Paul is a political opportunist.
