  • After the Fierté Gonavienne disaster, oceanographer Ernst Wilson explains why he believes the construction of a wharf or pier at Carriès will not solve the risks posed by maritime travel between La Gonâve and the mainland. According to Wilson, the real problem is the construction of boats, the lack of SEMANAH and APN regulation, and the lack of environmental protection. He discusses, as well, the economic possibility that fishing represents, and the presence of foreigners exploiting Haiti's water.

  • Après le naufrage du bateau la Fierté Gonavienne, l'océanographe Ernst Wilson explique pourquoi il ne croit pas que la construction d'un quai ou d'une jetée à Carriès réduira les riques liés au cabotage entre l'île de La Gonâve et la terre ferme. Selon lui, le vrai problème est la construction des bateaux, qui ne sont soumis à aucun contrôle SEMANAH ou APN, ainsi que le manque de protection environnementale. Il parle aussi de l'avantage que la pêche représente pour l'économie haïtienne et des étrangers qui exploitent l'espace maritime d'Haïti.
