  • Gérald Alexis, director of the Musée d'Art Haïtien, discusses Haitian art and the history of art in Haiti. He describes how Haitian art has been shaped and imagined by the market demands of foreign consumers, the changing nature of Haitian art (in which "novelty is not the same as quality or creativity," and the work of forgotten Haitian painters, particularly Lucien Price. According to Alexis, Haitian people should study the history of Haitian art.

Il décrit comment la demande du marché international affecte l’art haïtien, comment l’art haïtien change (dans lequel la nouveauté ne signifie pas qualité ou créativité); il parle aussi du travail de peintres haïtiens oubliés, notamment Lucien Price. Selon Alexis, les Haïtiens doivent étudier l’histoire de l’art haïtien.
