  • Senator Jean-Robert Sabalat discusses the case of Patrick Elie, who is currently being held in prison without trial in the United States for unlawful weapons possession. According to Sabalat, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fritz Longchamp is not adequately addressing the Elie case; Sabalat believes it should be the duty of the Haitian authorities to do whatever they can for a Haitian citizen detained abroad. He then discusses the senate's investigation into corruption and misappropriation of state assets and aid money by members of the Lavalas government. This includes money, donated by Taiwan, that was ostensibly used by Lafanmi Selavi to work on Route Tabarre, but there are no records of how the money was used. He also cites the "petits projets de la présidence" as lacking transparency. Sabalat says he is not accusing anyone, but he is calling for transparency and an end to impunity.

  • Le sénateur Jean-Robert Sabalat parle de l'affaire Patrick Elie, qui est actuellement incarcéré en détention provisoire aux États-Unis pour possession illégale d'armes. Selon Sabalat, le ministre des Affaires Étrangères Fritz Longchamp ne fait pas assez d'efforts sur ce dossier : il pense que cela devrait être le devoir des autorités de tout faire en leur pouvoir pour aider un citoyen haïtien emprisonné à l'étranger.
