  • Jean Dominique interviews Frantz Guillite, mayor of Les Cayes, and Moïse Jean-Charles, mayor of Milot, on a recent meeting at the National Palace on local government and decentralization. Guillite and Jean-Charles state they discussed with the president the desire of local government officials to decentralize the country. They state that local government needs to reinforce their abilities to manage the needs of the regional authorities, and that they need funding for that to happen. They discuss the importance of a centralized literacy campaign. They discuss the possibility of creating a forum for the Lavalas party to discuss the state of the party and what changes are needed.
